Introduction

Lucknow Campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University houses a well-furnished library that fulfils all the research and academics related requirements of the students and the teachers of the campus by its rich collection of books in four different languages. The syllabus related text books have been given priority in the library. Presently PG and Ph.D. courses are functional at MANUU Lucknow Campus in Urdu, Arabic, English and Persian languages. The MANUU Lucknow Campus Library has been furnished with all the necessary books required by these four departments. More books are planned to be added to the library as per the requirements of the departments.

MANUU Lucknow Campus Library has a rich collection of around 6000 books in Urdu, English, Arabic and Persian languages.

  • 2016-17: 1440

In addition to this there are 527 donated books in the library.

Acquisition Section:
The following system is followed for acquisition of the books in the library:
A list of the required books is prepared and sent to the Head Quarter of MANUU in Hyderabad. Once the sanction orders are issued by the Head Quarter, books are acquired accordingly, and the bills are settled by the finance section. Then the seal of the library is placed on four different places in the books: on the first page, on the left side of the second page, on some specific page inside the book, and on the last page of the book. Subsequently the accession procedure is completed.

Future Plans and preferences:  
Data processing is underway to develop a fully digitalized library system in the library. Once this process is completed books would be issued through a computerized library system. The catalogues of all the books of the library are already available online through the official website of MANUU.
