2. Purpose & Activities:
University Grants Commission, New Delhi sanctioned the “Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers” to Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.
Entrusting the responsibility to Maulana Azad National Urdu University to manage this Centre will go a long way in the Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers. It is a common platform to bring together Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary level teachers working in Urdu Medium Schools in all South India Satates, Andhra Pradesh, Mahrashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujrat, Goa and Tamilnadu.The Centre is designing and conducting innovative programmes to fulfill the promised national and social goals.
The Centre has two- pronged objectives:
Main Objectives
1. Awareness of the concepts of education. 2. Development of teaching skills. 3. Desirable change in attitudes. 4. Transfer of training of executive control. 5. Understanding the psychology of development. 6. Awareness of the latest instructional practices. 7. Introduction to new scientific evaluation techniques.
General Objectives:
1. Motivate Urdu medium teachers for their professional development. 2. Keep teachers abreast of the latest developments and innovation in the field of education. 3. Offer incentives and facilities to attract teachers for orientation and refresher courses. 4. Provide a common platform for cross-fertilisation of ideas, observations and practical experiences of Urdu medium teachers. 5. Offer orientation programmes for office-bearers and inspecting staff of Urdu medium schools to send their teachers for participating in such programmes and also to enhance the performance of the supervisory staff. 6. Encourage the best schools / madrasas by providing accreditation certificates and awards etc. 7. Prepare supplementary instructional materials for Radio and TV programmes. 8. Prepare question banks in different subjects. 9. Prepare model common question papers for monthly, quarterly and half-yearly home examinations of Urdu medium schools. 10. Provide guidance in the establishment of model libraries in Urdu medium schools and to inculcate reading habits among the teachers. 11. Liaise with Urdu academies, SCERT and NCERT, New Delhi to fulfill the objectives of the centre. 12. Create an awareness of innovative education technology, computer education and e-learning in Urdu medium schools.

Fee:
All the above mentioned courses are free, as per Govt. rules T.A. and D.A. is also given to the participants.
Intake: There is no such a fix intake, but the batch of 50 participants is preferred.
4. Process of Admissions and examination course-wise including Eligibility Criteria, Assignments etc.
The target groups consist of two streams i.e. teachers and administrators of educational Institutions:
Teachers working in:
1. Elementary, primary and upper primary schools. 2. Secondary and senior secondary schools. 3. Madrasas and Maktabs. 4. Angan Wadi and Balwadi Schools . 5. Adult and non-formal education centres and functionaries in the field of education (District Educational Officers, Deputy Education Officers etc.) Managers, Correspondents, Chairpersons and Secretaries of Urdu medium schools.
Organization for the Target Groups:
The Centre proposes to organise training programmes for the in-service Urdu medium teachers as mentioned below:
1. Region-wise approach: Urdu medium teachers working in South Indian States. 2. Subject-wise approach: Urdu medium teachers working in South Indian like Mathematics; Science etc. 3. New entrants in teaching profession

CPDUMT's activities are continued all over the year, there is no fixed time.
