Mission

Our faculty and students have to emphasize the functional relationship between knowledge generation, theory development and effective practice.

The Department of Education and Training boosts of fully equipped labs of Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, Science Education and Computer Education.

The Department of Education and Training at Maulana Azad National Urdu University emphasizes field-based study in educational settings where social, economic and political pressures interact to help and to shape policies and practices. It offers a set of programmes through Urdu medium that address formal and non-formal educational issues from national and international perspectives.

The Department of Education and Training endeavours to:

Prepare effective teachers, teacher-educators and researchers.
Conduct and apply research; and offer accessible local and global outreach.
Promote academic excellence and strive to provide quality education through Urdu medium.

Develop a research orientation among students, teachers and teacher-educators to conduct and to guide research in the field of Education.
Work closely with the Urdu speaking milieu and evolve strategies to empower the same by imparting qualitative, affordable, modern and higher education through the Urdu medium of instruction.
Make major contribution to the field of education for research, for teacher education and for its masteral and doctoral programmes.
Monitor theory as well as practical works of trainees including projects and action research.
Provide academic guidelines to promote excellence, standard, innovative techniques, approaches, skill-up gradation and training to the learners.
Reach out to other educational institution in the areas of Teaching Technologies, Research Methodology in Social Sciences and Educational Management.
Provide higher education especially teacher education focused on skills and oriented towards productive employment opportunities.
Suggest teaching improvements, course contents, dynamic upgradation of the syllabi based on worldwide developments and adaptation of technology applications for improving teaching-learning methods and generating creative teachers and leaders for the nation.

The Department assists and guides the Distance mode programmes offered by MANUU:

a) B.Ed. (Two years)

Ed.* 1 year full time programme	154	One year	Rs. 2,525/-	i) A candidate should be graduate in any stream of study with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. ii) The candidates of SC/ST/OBC category the minimum requirement is 45%. iii) The candidate should have studied Urdu as a subject at SSC level or above. iv) The lowest age limit is 19 years.
3	D.Ed.* 2 years full time programme	115	Two years	Rs. 1,625/- (I year) Rs. 1,365/- (II year)	i) The candidate should have passed Intermediate with the aggregate marks of 50% ii) The students of SC/ST/OBC category the minimum required percentage is 45%. iii) The candidate should have studied Urdu as a subject at SSC level or above. iv) The age limit should be minimum of 17 years and not more than 28 years.

*The selection of the candidate for M.Ed., B. Ed. & D.Ed. programmes is purely based on the merit in the Entrance Examinations of MANUU.

**For Ph.D. in Education, admissions are made on the recommendation of the selection committee and Entrance Exams conducted for the same.

Seminars/Guest Lectures/Tours and forthcoming events:

· Guest lectures are organized to enable the students with the knowledge and information related to pedagogy by the experts of Education, Science and Technology.

· The Department of Education and Training organizes guest lectures, extension lectures, workshops, seminars for the enhancement of the students knowledge, skills and experiences.

· Provides fieldtrips and excursion for the learners for an all-round development of their personality.

· Strive to develop and implement excellent, dynamic programmes for the preparation of teachers.

· Improves the conditions of learning and teaching for everyone in a technological society by conducting orientation and refresher courses.

Student Support Services:

· The Department of Education and Training provides Remedial Teaching for academically backward learners.

· It promotes enrichment programmes for the gifted learners.

· It provides scholarship to the learners to facilitate learning and pursue higher education.

· Provides an opportunity to participate in Literary, cultural, games and sports activities under the supervision of different faculty members to exhibit the skills of the learners.

· Department organizes open book assignment, weekly seminars, workshop for personality enrichment and professional development and experiential learning methods.

· Organizes extension lectures by experts to facilitate the learners.

· Meritorious students are exempted from tuition fee.

The Department of Education and Training in collaboration with the UGC-Academic Staff College, Maulana Azad National Urdu University organizes Refresher Courses in Education.

The Department has got sanctioned Special Assistance Programme (SAP) from UGC. The thrust area of the research is “Urdu Medium Education: Expectation and Challenges in the Context of Globalization” Prof. H. Khatija Begum is the Coordinator and Prof. Fatima Begum is the Deputy Coordinator of the SAP programme. In addition to this, Prof. Fatima Begum, Head and Dean has got the Minor Research Project entitled “Farmer’s Agony- An Environmental Issue- An Evaluative Study in the Context of Sustainable Development” granted by UGC. Dr. Najmus Saher, Associate Professor also has got a Minor Research Project of UGC entitled “A Study of dialect Variations in Urdu and its Effect on the Teaching and Learning of Urdu Language at School level in the State of A.P.
