Overseas Students

Maulana Azad National Urdu University , Hyderabad , has initiated its activities right from its inception by establishing the Directorate of Distance Education in 1998.The first programme on offer was B.A., with an intake of 2500 students in 18 Study centres. Presently the Directorate caters to the educational needs of nearly 130,000 students enrolled in 144 Study centers spread all over India .  

The University has established an Examination Centre at Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to facilitate the students taking admissions in B.A., B.Com. and M.A. (Urdu, History, English) programmes through distance mode. Initially these courses were open to Non-Resident Indians only but now foreign nationals can also apply, provided their degree/qualifying examination is recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).  Indian Education Council (Consulate General of India, Jeddah) is arranging the admission and examination of the Urdu University candidates at Jeddah. Candidates without any formal education can also take admission in any of the undergraduate course provided they qualify the Eligibility test conducted by the University.

 Notification/publicity/availability of application forms:

The University will inform the Indian Education Council (IEC) about the promotional activities, after issuing of notification for admissions. Admission and examination forms along with other latest notifications are also displayed on University website www.manuu.ac.in from time to time. Interested candidates can download the application forms from the website. Candidates residing in Saudi Arabia can submit their duly filled application forms along with all required credentials at the Consulate General of India, Jeddah.  Dispatch of Self Instructional Material:

After scrutinizing the admission forms, the University will dispatch the Self Instructional Material, Assignments and I-cards directly to the IEC which will forward the same to the students concerned. Students will submit their assignment response sheets at the IEC.

Annual examination:

The University will notify the exam schedule on its website and inform the students/IEC well in advance. Students can obtain the examination forms from the IEC, Jeddah or can download from the University website www.manuu.ac.in. Duly filled forms can be submitted to the IEC Jeddah. The University will issue the hall through the IEC. Examination will be conducted at Jeddah under the supervision of the Indian Consulate. The results will be communicated to the IEC.

Admission in second year

The University will send the registration forms to the IEC, which will be forwarded to the concerned students for promotion to the second year. The students will submit filled in forms to the IEC for forwarding them to the Directorate of Distance Education for necessary action.

Admission of foreign nationals:

Interested candidates having their examinations/degrees from the foreign countries will be admitted to the University courses if their qualifying examination/institution has been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Candidates who have got confirmation letters (regarding their degree equivalency) from the AIU shall submit a copy of the same along with the application form. Other candidates can submit their examination/institution details to the IEC prior to admission.. The University will verify the details and if their qualifying examination/institution figures out in “Equivalence of Foreign Degrees” published by the AIU, they will be eligible for admission.
