Statistical Information (i) Regional Centres (ii) Student’s Enrolment (Distance Mode) Based on the recommendations of the National Statistical Commission and instructions of University Grants Commission, University established a Statistical Cell on 3rd March, 2006 to create and update database of employees and students of the University. The updated details of the collected data are being sent to the University Grants Commission, Ministry of Human Resource Development and other Governmental Departments periodically and on demand. Statistical cell is to generate and maintain databank of the university with regard to the academic and developmental activities of the University. Keeping the data safe and updated is one of the responsibilities of the Cell. Such data reflects at a glance the departments, students’ strength course wise, sex ratio, teaching and non-teaching staff and a lot more about the University. This database also facilitates University authorities to be acquainted with the latest portions pertaining to the reservations in admissions and appointments in the University. Distance education programmes started from 1998 with the introduction of Foundation Course (B.A, B.Sc. and B.Com.). Post Graduate Courses were introduced in the academic year 2004-2005, and following is the graph-depicting student enrolment pattern since 1998-1999.
Campus education was initiated in 2001-2002 with the introduction of the Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course. Under Graduate and Post Graduate Courses have been introduced in the academic year 2004-2005. The table given below is about the enrolment pattern of Post Graduate, Degree and Diploma courses since 2001-02.
The strength of teaching staff at headquarters in various Departments, Centres and Colleges of Teacher Education (Srinagar, Bhopal and Darbhanga) is as follows:
*Apart from this, 5 teaching staff members are appointed on contractual basis and about 900 counselors are appointed on part time basis for counseling at (139) study centres throughout the country.
The strength of non-teaching staff working in various sections, departments, regional cetres, sub-regional centres and colleges of teacher education is depicted below:
* 70 Non-Teaching staff members are deputed in the (Directorate of Distance Education, Regional Centres and Sub-Regional Centres) to take care of 139 Study
