As an exciting new development at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the Department of Political Science is created as an independent department in 2015 and is dedicated to understanding and explaining politics. The department was earlier merged with the Department of Public Administration. We offer a range of study programmes including Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.). The department is also in the process of starting its own Ph.D. programme in all areas of Political Science.

With a young and experienced pool of faculty, the department is committed to provide high quality learning experience to its students and researchers. As a promising department, it aims to emerge a learning centre of excellence and distinguished scholarship. It also strives to provide multidimensional learning experiences which integrate rigorous academic, applied, practical and cross-disciplinary perspectives to ensure a deep understanding of Political Science in all its contexts. The academic environment of the department stimulates out of the box thinking among its students and researchers. In other words, the focus of the department is not only to train its students as effective citizens but also fit for a large number of contemporary careers.

As we know the dearth of quality research, both theoretical and applied, is another major challenge confronting Political Science education. In this respect, the department aims to nurture quality research by establishing conditions most appropriate for incubating scholarly activity.
